A graphic maze of hand-appliquéd rafia, designed in Marrakech and made slowly by hand.
This one-of-one pillow cover features a bold labyrinth pattern in charcoal black, natural écru, and rich terracotta, stitched shape by shape across a woven rafia ground. The design feels linear, rhythmic, and almost coded — inspired by the visual language of Kuba cloth and reimagined through a contemporary Moroccan lens.
Look closely and you can see the hand in every line: slight shifts in spacing, texture, and stitch direction that make the piece feel alive, human, and impossible to repeat exactly.
Why You’ll Love It
One-of-one edition
This exact composition exists only once. When it sells, it will not be remade in the same way.
Hand-designed by Meriem Chrrouhi
Created by Tigemi founder Meriem Chrrouhi, whose work blends contemporary graphic design with inherited Moroccan craft traditions.
Hand-appliquéd in Marrakech
Each rafia shape is cut, placed, and stitched by hand by a women’s artisan cooperative in Marrakech.
Natural rafia texture
Made from plant-based rafia with a woven ground, giving the cover a sculptural, organic surface.
Bold graphic character
Charcoal, terracotta, and écru create a strong but earthy palette that works beautifully with linen, leather, oak, plaster, stone, and bouclé.
Slow-made craftsmanship
A single cover takes several days to appliqué and finish, giving the piece its quiet density and collectible feel.
The Story Behind the Design
This pillow began as a hand drawing by Meriem Chrrouhi, then moved from paper into fiber through the hands of Marrakech artisans.
The labyrinth pattern is never printed or machine repeated. Each shape is cut and stitched individually, creating a rhythm that can only happen through handwork. Even if a similar design were made again, the line would shift, the spacing would breathe differently, and the final piece would carry a different hand.
That is what makes this cover rare: not just the design, but the impossibility of duplicating its exact rhythm.
Styling Ideas
Place it on a stone-colored linen sofa for a strong graphic focal point, or layer it with bouclé, aged oak, worn leather, and warm neutrals for a collected, textural interior.
It also works beautifully alone on a bench or reading chair — part pillow, part textile artwork. Think Marrakech riad, Brooklyn loft, Paris apartment, or any space that needs one bold handmade object to anchor the room.
Care
Spot clean only with a damp white cloth. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to help protect the natural dye tones. Do not machine wash, bleach, or tumble dry.
Treat it gently, as you would a hand-loomed rug or collectible textile.
A Note on Authenticity
Because this piece is hand-appliquéd, slight variations in line, stitch, texture, and color depth are natural. These are not flaws — they are proof of the artisan’s hand.
